14A - Halfway Reflection

Tenaciousness is a competency
Some behaviors I’ve always had but put a lot more into use for this course is productivity and organization. Assignments came on routine, and I had to stay on top of the requirements so I wouldn’t fall behind or cram Friday morning to finish the assignment. It taught me that I do not want to stress last minute about something I knew I would have to complete at a set period of time. Something I found very applicable and eye-opening was that I was taught to focus more on our daily lives. I appreciated the bug list because it somewhat took me from my habitual and demanded that I process my life through another perspective.

Tenaciousness is also about attitude
I have felt like giving up in the past two weeks numerous times. The coursework becomes demanding because many times it is not possible to complete on the night before. You have to plan yourself to keep up and know the assignments due on that Friday and ensure you have enough data to post something. It becomes complicated if you feel like you are falling behind. I had a moment of thinking, what if I just don’t post something this week? But I knew I would regret it, and I would be setting up a bad standard for myself and my future work. So my attitude has always reflected who I am, but became a lot more transparent under stressful circumstances.

Three tips
My three tips for next semester’s student:
  1. To foster the skills needed to support tenacity you need to have an attitude of wanting to succeed. Reflect on what you have learned Being lazy in this class will not prove to be successful.
  2. You should have an open mind. I already learned how to perceive the world in a different way than I have throughout my life. If you pay attention to the assignments, you will be able to take away some cool skills.
  3. To develop the “tenacious mindset” you should always keep on top of your requirements, and put in good work into it. Don’t slack off too many times because that is leading a poor example for yourself. Be interested in what you are learning. You are in this class for a reason!

  1. Hey Giovanna,
I ca relate to your post very much because I have dealt with some of the same issues you have dealt with. I have noticed a large increase in my productivity lately as well. My reasoning is I am determined to get better grades this semester. Your three tips are also very helpful for any incoming ENT3003 students. Waiting for the night before to complete an assignment is a problem that many students have including me, and changing this can make a student's life much easier.
